Welcome...

Since its inception in 1985, the Dublin Area Art League’s membership has steadily grown and represents many varied talents.  The group includes artists from beginners to professionals.  While we have some full-time artists, the majority of our members work in other fields.  We offer a convenient, friendly way for them to develop their talents, meet with other artists and keep an interest in creating visual arts.  We are open to any age and any level of ability.

We meet once a month on the 2nd Thursday at the Dublin Public Library.  The meetings are held from September through May from 6:30 – 9:00 PM.  Our programs have been demonstrations or talks by various artists, slide shows, critiques or live models from which we can create new masterpieces!

Our next meeting is Thursday, November 13th at the Dublin Recreation Center. Please join us for an open reception celebrating our annual Fall Showcase member show. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome.

A CELEBRATION
OF LOCAL ART

works from the fall show

Besides two juried shows held in November and April, the League offers several other opportunities to exhibit member’s work.  Each month a different member is allowed to show their work at the exhibition space at the Dublin Community Recreation Building at 5600 Post Road.  Sometimes the League has theme shows if there is a month open.  Several local shops rotate an artist's work too like Starbucks and The Winemaker's Guild.  We work in tandem with the Historic Dublin Business Association to exhibit and display outdoors during several events outlined below.

New this year was the introduction of "A Celebration of Local Art", a Dublin Art Fair that was held on Saturday July 19th.  Four different Art Leagues and many individual artists comprised the festival.  The location was on the front lawn area of Indian Run Elementary School from noon to 8 PM.  See the Events page for more information.

The Dublin Area Art League is a non profit organization made up of artists and art enthusiasts.  We hold an “Art Stroll and Paint Out” in Historic Dublin during the summer.  This year’s Art Stroll was from Saturday, July 12th through Saturday, July 26th. The Paint Out was July 12th. The contest was open to anyone to enter that  day for a fee, but they had to start by noon and complete their work that day by 4 PM.  The Stroll is a free event to the public and occurred during regular hours of the participating businesses. July 19th was the Arts Fair from 12 to 8pm on the front lawn of Indian Run Elementary.

2008 "Life Is Good In Dublin"
Art contest for 2009 Calendar

DAAL has sponsored our third annual art contest for a Dublin art calendar.  The theme was a new approach as well as a request for an artist's statement.  The statement explains how the art relates to the "Life Is Good In Dublin" theme, and has been printed with the art.  The show was held at the Dublin Community Recreation Center, and was finalized in design by Graphic Artist and member, Tom Trusty.  It debuted at the Dublin Art Festival on July 19th.

Our Relationship With The Dublin Arts  Council

We are a separate entity from the Dublin Arts Council, but work closely with them for support.  One of our juried shows has traditionally been held in the DAC gallery on Riverside Drive.  The DAC has assisted us financially with grant money for expenses for the Dublin Art Stroll and our “Best of Show” cash awards.  Otherwise, we are a self-sufficient club that raises funds through the rental of our exhibition equipment, rebate programs from Kroger and American Art Frames, and the art calendar.
