2008
Dublin Art Fair
A Celebration of Local Art”
The Dublin Area
Art League hosted a Local Artists Only Art
Festival on July 19th 2008, from 12:00 to
8:00pm. The festival was on the front lawn of Indian Run Elementary,
found on 161 (Bridge St. ) between High St. and
Post Road.
Four large tents
housed with whole art leagues filled the majority
of the area. This allowed people who didn't have
equipment or the inventory for standard art
festivals to participate. The art leagues
that participated were Dublin Area Art League,
Worthington Art League, Bexley Art League and
Grove City/ Hilltop Art Leagues. We selectively
invited certain other independent artists to
participate in tandem with the leagues to assure
a quality show.
Live
background music, vendors with snack items, and
volunteers sat with artists’ booths were all
part of the fair too. This change of venue and
host came about because of construction in the
Historic Dublin area that would affect the usual
street location. The annual Dublin Art and
Music Festival was scrubbed for the second year
in a row, and the local artists, (DAAL) didn’t
want that to happen. This is our first “Grass
Roots” show that focused on the Arts and
LOCAL, Central Ohio Artists.
We guesstimated
about 1500 - 2000 visitors attended the event -
even with temperatures in the low 90's!
The vast majority of artists sold work, and did
very well. Our surveys had very positive
feedback, and most all of the independent
artists would like to return for next year.
