FEbruary Meeting: General meeting/discussion
There will be no guest speaker at this month's meeting. As we have done several times in the past we will have a general business meeting. An open discussion on any range of DAAL related subjects. It's a great opportunity to share your ideas and make suggestions. We can discuss future events, exhibits and meeting topics. If you have an upcoming show or class or have received special recognition for your work it's a great time to toot your own horn. And as always, it's a great way to get to know other members better. You won't want to miss this one. It's sure to be fun and informative.
As (almost) always this month's meeting is being held at the Dublin Branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, located at 75 N. High Street in old Dublin. The February 2012 meeting will take place on Thursday, the 9th, from 6:30 to 8:30PM. Should you need them, a map and directions can be found here.
Upcoming Guests and Demonstrations
Courtney Yoakum, Studio Director at the Open Door Art Gallery located at 1050 Goodale Blvd. Grandview, will be the guest speaker at the March DAAL meeting. She will talk about what they do there at "Open Door", and about possible opportunities for artists to mentor their clients or teach classes. You can find more information about Open Door Gallery by visiting their website.
DAAL member William McClure has offered to host the May meeting at his home, so that he can give us a outside demonstration of his fascinating and unique painting technique. We are still discussing the possiblity of making this a "end-of-year bash" and potluck picnic or something along those lines.
We still need Volunteers!
We are still looking for help setting up and taking down the screens for the OVMA show later this month. This is an important source of income for DAAL so your assistance is of benefit to the entire league. Set-up will be sometime the week of February 20th prior to the opening on Thursday the 23rd, and take down will be Sunday, February 26th. It would be best if you are available both of those days. Contact Bev Goldie or Martin Phillips for details.
We also have an urgent need for volunteers for this year's spring member's show. We need someone to step up and volunteer to be the show's Chairperson, and we also need several additional volunteers to assist him or her with registration, set-up, take-down, etc. This is a fun, easy way to learn the behind the scenes workings of an art exhibit/show while getting to know some of your fellow league members better. There are always plenty of helpful members with past experience with these shows to answer all your questions and guide you if you are a first timer, so don't be afraid to step up. Contact Martin Phillips for details.
